05:50 pm: So for the past ten days while Christian is in Colorado, my life has been nothing but stress and poop. I screwed up my bid at work and have to work night shifts until the first Sunday in November. I get home at 10:30, walk the dogs immediately, come inside and feed the dogs; Smitty doesn't eat and I spend the next twenty minutes coaxing her to eat and sitting beside her very quietly, not moving until she finishes. It's now 11:30. I sit down and try to relax for a few minutes, but try to get to bed before midnight. Then I can't fall asleep until after 1, wake up a few times during the night, and am treated to Smitty crying at 7 am until I get up and take her out. I'm actually not being sarcastic, as she is known to begin crying at 5:30 am. Then I can't fall back asleep, but am drugged from the Tylenol PM I took the night before to get the maybe 5 hours I did get.

Anyway, I haven't gotten a decent (much less good) night's sleep since before he left. I got lucky and switched yesterday and today my crappy night shift for a 6 am shift and my mom offered to watch the dogs for me for a couple of days because it was supposed to rain again. So I'm actually sleeping at 9 pm last night when I am awoken by the phone. It's my mom asking if Christian and I were going to go to Big Bear this weekend. I don't have the faintest idea what she is talking about. She has a time share condo there but she had already told me months ago that they don't accept dogs, so how can we go to Big Bear with them if they don't allow dogs? "Well, I thought you and Christian could go and we'd watch stay home with the dogs." What??? No thank you, Mom, but in addition to this being the first I'd heard of this, Christian and will be staying home this weekend and spending some time with our dogs. So I go back to bed and can't fall asleep until nearly 11 o'clock.

Today I get up at 4:30 and make my way through the day in my comatose state, get off and have to go to the office of the parking lot where we are banished, for the fifth time in less than a month while they look up in their computer to see whether I have paid for October and whether I've done anything funny with my parking pass (they log our entries and exits with the key card we use to enter and exit). He told me my card SHOULD work tomorrow. At least it's doing something different from the last drama a couple of weeks ago. It keeps things interesting. I mean, who would want to just go HOME after work when you can go argue and have your records scrutinized on a daily basis like you're trying to get away with something.

Anyway, I had a nap and woke up feeling somewhat refreshed and decided to do a load of laundry that has been sitting next to the door for the past three days because the ONE washer that we have is always being used during the scant "free" time that I have. Now it is pouring rain and I get a decent soaking just walking down the stairs to the laundry room but the lid is up and all is good! Until I realize that the slide tray where you put the quarters is jammed and won't come out, rendering the ONE washing machine useless. Who needs clean underwear anyway? I mean, really, I can just drive really carefully and stay out accidents, right?

Tirade over.

09:47 am: kroq inland invasion
Allright, it's official. I'm excited about this concert even though I have a love-hate relationship with these all day out in the middle of nowhere ventures. I'm brought face to face with the fact that I hate people, especially in mass quantities, and the more ignored than enforced no smoking law gives me a migraine just thinking about it. Alas, I'll pack up a year's supply of Maxalt and suck it up. I did after all was said and done enjoy myself at Coachella, and I didn't know the bands on that lineup. This lineup boasts a newly reunited Tears for Fears, Billy Idol with Steve Stevens, Morrissey, Siouxsie, Devo, Muse, etc., etc. I can't even remember them all. Hooray!

09:29 am: billy idol
I can't find any written information but I just looked at Billy Idol's website and some fan pics from a concert on September 8th appear to have a Mr. Steve Stevens on the guitar. Fingers crossed, we'll be seeing them both next Saturday!

04:17 pm: the j. paul getty center
no longer requires reservations! and i had finally gotten off my arse and looked it up and was ready to make a commitment. all is well though, there is a temporary exhibit "photographers of genius" continuing through july. alas, should we try the cafe(no menu listed online), picnic, or go to the yummy vegan restaurant in westwood? ah, yes, there is the familiar indecision and fear of commitment i know and loathe.
