OK, so if I had bothered to look, I would have noticed the music on the CG album was written and performed by Air, so it probably isn't so much of a coincidence that it sounds like Air... Current Mood: : I love it when things work out I just scored an advance copy of Charlotte Gainsbourg's album at Amoeba Records on Monday and I love it! It's totally my cup of tea, electronica in the spirit of really good Air, Black Cherry era Goldfrapp. Hooray for me! Current Mood: July 8th, 2006: Bored, bored, bored So Christian slipped out early this morning to visit Jessica and will hopefully be home in an hour or so. I avoided the TV all day in order to avoid learning the score of the Germany-Portugal match, except to watch a Tivo suggestion called It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I'm pretty sure that this will become Christian's new favorite show. I should be doing laundry but I'm hot and bored, bored, bored. I'm contemplating going to a sports bar or pub to watch the final match tomorrow to squeeze in every last minute of my newfound love of soccer, laughing at the absurdity of the notion given my hate of sports and eveb bigger hate of sportsbars and their patrons. I got all excited because one of the computers was free. I got even more excited when I saw that I had a new email. Then I saw that it wasn't from Christian, but from my mom...Then I went on live journal and not only had X not posted anything, but he hadn't replied to seahorse's query of a religious nature. Then I got worried...Then I remembered that he said he was starting work at 8 am on Friday, which apparently is today, and it is notthat time yet in California. Alas. My second to last day in Panama, but my companion/interpreter is sleeping. He went out with the ladies last night in the wee hours. I respectfully declined but can't wait to hear about their adventures. I really just don't speak any Spanish at all. And forget what you may have heard. They don't speak English. Yesterday we went to a national park which is right inside Panama City and saw some nature and beautiful views. There are many beautiful beaches here, but I stupidly managed to sunburn the HELL out of my ears (FIRST TIME EVER, with my thick hair by having my hair pulled back all day) in addition to a few other random and grossly unattractive spots such as around my belly button, some stripes on my feet for instance, so I'm inclined to stay away from equator strength sunshine for the next day and a half. Call me crazy. My biggest adventures have been trying to learn how to use that damn digital camera, running out of batteries, running out of memory just as wewere pulling our boat up to the most pristine beautiful island about the size of three house lots in the states, with one hut on it that one Kuna family lives in on it. Clear blue water and white sand beach and no memory and the manual was back in our room and no stores for the next 24 hours at least. Oh well you'll just have to take my word for it. Not a lot of Americans out here, but a LOT of Brits and Europeans. Anyway , bye for now... April 10th, 2005:

Greetings from Panama! LiveJournal is all in Spanish and this keyboard sucks as much as my typing, so bear with me. Panama is hot and humid but so far we are impressed. Just have a few minutes, we are going to go see the canal and eat Panamanian food! We went shopping today but I managed to lose xianrex s sizes so I didn t spend too much money yet! March 31st, 2005: panama I officially decided today that I am going to Panama with two coworkers in April. I've done a tiny bit of research and it sounds really cool. I also just found out some extremely dangerous information...I just read that hotels in Panama are expensive for Latin America--you should expect to pay upwards of $20 per night. And to all you starwatchers, B.J. Honeycutt went on my flight to Oakland today (O.K. Mike Farell). And Kevin Cronin, Bruce Hall and Bryan Hitt of REO Speedwagon went on my Phoenix flight. And the guy who lives downstairs went on my Vegas flight. My life is so glamorous;) Current Mood: November 27th, 2004: music meme 1. Once again, I got less than six hours sleep, AND I woke up with a migraine as a bonus:( But, on a good note, the washing machine is working and I have staked my claim. Hah! And, I came inside and wanted some music, so I turned on the TV. Of course, MTV and VH1 are not playing videos, but Fuse is, and when I put it on that channel, the first notes of "Hysteria" by Muse started playing. Bliss. October 27th, 2004: ashlee simpson I just watched SNL last night on my Tivo, oblivious to the Ashlee Simpson debacle. Did anyone else see this? I am not a cruel person by nature, so I feel sorry for her, but do you really think you should recieve millions of dollars and fame for being a singer when you can't sing? When we watched last week's show, I had commented with disgust that SNL used to choose interesting and talented musical acts after they announced Ashlee as next week's guest. Christian said they had sold out long ago. How ironic that this would be her undoing... October 26th, 2004:
So for the past ten days while Christian is in Colorado, my life has been nothing but stress and poop. I screwed up my bid at work and have to work night shifts until the first Sunday in November. I get home at 10:30, walk the dogs immediately, come inside and feed the dogs; Smitty doesn't eat and I spend the next twenty minutes coaxing her to eat and sitting beside her very quietly, not moving until she finishes. It's now 11:30. I sit down and try to relax for a few minutes, but try to get to bed before midnight. Then I can't fall asleep until after 1, wake up a few times during the night, and am treated to Smitty crying at 7 am until I get up and take her out. I'm actually not being sarcastic, as she is known to begin crying at 5:30 am. Then I can't fall back asleep, but am drugged from the Tylenol PM I took the night before to get the maybe 5 hours I did get. Anyway, I haven't gotten a decent (much less good) night's sleep since before he left. I got lucky and switched yesterday and today my crappy night shift for a 6 am shift and my mom offered to watch the dogs for me for a couple of days because it was supposed to rain again. So I'm actually sleeping at 9 pm last night when I am awoken by the phone. It's my mom asking if Christian and I were going to go to Big Bear this weekend. I don't have the faintest idea what she is talking about. She has a time share condo there but she had already told me months ago that they don't accept dogs, so how can we go to Big Bear with them if they don't allow dogs? "Well, I thought you and Christian could go and we'd watch stay home with the dogs." What??? No thank you, Mom, but in addition to this being the first I'd heard of this, Christian and will be staying home this weekend and spending some time with our dogs. So I go back to bed and can't fall asleep until nearly 11 o'clock. Today I get up at 4:30 and make my way through the day in my comatose state, get off and have to go to the office of the parking lot where we are banished, for the fifth time in less than a month while they look up in their computer to see whether I have paid for October and whether I've done anything funny with my parking pass (they log our entries and exits with the key card we use to enter and exit). He told me my card SHOULD work tomorrow. At least it's doing something different from the last drama a couple of weeks ago. It keeps things interesting. I mean, who would want to just go HOME after work when you can go argue and have your records scrutinized on a daily basis like you're trying to get away with something. Anyway, I had a nap and woke up feeling somewhat refreshed and decided to do a load of laundry that has been sitting next to the door for the past three days because the ONE washer that we have is always being used during the scant "free" time that I have. Now it is pouring rain and I get a decent soaking just walking down the stairs to the laundry room but the lid is up and all is good! Until I realize that the slide tray where you put the quarters is jammed and won't come out, rendering the ONE washing machine useless. Who needs clean underwear anyway? I mean, really, I can just drive really carefully and stay out accidents, right? Tirade over. Current Mood: September 9th, 2004: kroq inland invasion Allright, it's official. I'm excited about this concert even though I have a love-hate relationship with these all day out in the middle of nowhere ventures. I'm brought face to face with the fact that I hate people, especially in mass quantities, and the more ignored than enforced no smoking law gives me a migraine just thinking about it. Alas, I'll pack up a year's supply of Maxalt and suck it up. I did after all was said and done enjoy myself at Coachella, and I didn't know the bands on that lineup. This lineup boasts a newly reunited Tears for Fears, Billy Idol with Steve Stevens, Morrissey, Siouxsie, Devo, Muse, etc., etc. I can't even remember them all. Hooray! : billy idol I can't find any written information but I just looked at Billy Idol's website and some fan pics from a concert on September 8th appear to have a Mr. Steve Stevens on the guitar. Fingers crossed, we'll be seeing them both next Saturday! July 13th, 2004: the j. paul getty center no longer requires reservations! and i had finally gotten off my arse and looked it up and was ready to make a commitment. all is well though, there is a temporary exhibit "photographers of genius" continuing through july. alas, should we try the cafe(no menu listed online), picnic, or go to the yummy vegan restaurant in westwood? ah, yes, there is the familiar indecision and fear of commitment i know and loathe. July 12th, 2004: damn you, evil migraine well, i've been in mind-numbing pain for about six hours now. it feels like my head is in a vise, and now the naseau is coming. hooray! : chicago so many vegetarian restaurants, so little time. mmm, chicago diner...plus, polish food. yum stuff... July 8th, 2004: hollywood tower of terror has been open for over two months and i still haven't been there, dammit! Current Mood: glib Current Music: silence |
